Take heed how you hear!
Sometimes it’s hard to get a “rhema” word from God when a hurricane is blowing. Rather, it is in the calm of the storm or the quiet ray of sunlight that brings the storms end, and this is where assessments are made. People, for the most part, all have a few internal questions that they would really love an answer too. Why did this happen? What about that? This is normal. Would it be a shock to you if I told you that an answer is not what you are looking for?
I’ve heard people say before, “Well, if I could just see something. If God would just give me a sign I would be content!” This gospel isn’t an eye gospel, it is an ear gospel! Faithlessness left unattended to makes you a weak link. Jesus said, “Be it unto you according to your faith.” Then, again he said, “Thy faith has made you whole”. Then in another situation, “Thy faith has saved you”. It was Jesus that had the healing, it was Jesus who had the salvation the lost and dying needed, but it was their faith that got the miracle. Your faith is your strength!
Faith comes by hearing, not seeing. Many today that read this could say to themselves, “I have put myself in a horrible pit of oppression, hearing the howls of tormentors of doubt all around me as I stared at the heavens out of this lake of misery”. You don’t need to see anything; you need to hear God talk to you. Oh, I love it when God talks to me! Many people feel as though they have plowed out their days in darkness where they couldn’t hear God. You talk about hell. That is hell by definition: not hearing from God, ever! What may be worse than the fires of hell, will be the absence of the voice of God, and thus no real peace for soul. People will say, “I just want to see something.” No you don’t. You need to hear a word from God! It’s not an answer you need, but a person.
One of the greatest lessons I’ve learned from God, I didn’t get from the Bible, or from a ministry. I got it in the cold, dark moments of life. What? As a small boy I was influenced by voices. I was marred by this consciousness and awareness of God. My conscience itself was as tender as a high tech alarm system picking up every spec of wrong. I could easily hear both sides of eternity (the light and darkness) calling out to me. He whose mind and soul are easily influenced by God will learn more in a month than others will in a year. It’s not what you see, but what you hear from God that matters. Do you hear God say, “you are healed,” then pull healing out of that spiritual realm into the realm you can see? You may not see it, but can you hear healing then pull it into your realm? You will hear God at the oddest and most offbeat times. Listen!!! No impartation can bring what just listening to God can do! Many people say, “Yeah, but I don’t feel anything from God”, or “I’m not getting anything”, or “I don’t see anything!” Yet the most fascinating part of a ministry happens at a place and in a place that you cannot see. It’s what a minister gets from God in his ear that will change the hearts of the people. In the midst of dark, odd moments of life you can hear from God and grow and receive. You don’t need to see anything today. You need one word from the Lord. That’s all! That one word will become your visible, present and future destiny!
